Have you ever eaten a salad out and wondered why some salads are better than others? In my personal option the lettuce is what can break or make a salad. According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service, lettuce is the leading vegetable crop in the U.S. in terms of its production value and the second most consumed vegetable, with potatoes ranked first. According to University of Agriculture and Life Science the U.S. consumption of head lettuce is estimated to be 23 lbs. per person every year. With that many salads being eaten a year, maybe we should look at which is healthier Iceberg or Romaine.
