First off, I want to say I have an amazing crew. On Friday we started filming for my new show, "Where to Eat." I had a blast filming. On our way to Charlotte, NC we saw a big giant peach. It just keep getting bigger and bigger. So, we just had to stop and check it out. Turns out it was a water tower, but made to look like a peach. You would think we would be in Georgia, where they are known for their peaches. The water tower just started the trip off right.
Once we arrived in Charlotte, we hit the road running filming at a local downtown favorite Mert's Heart and Soul. They have been featured on Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives along with appearances on Charlotte's local television affiliate. The food was amazing. We also got a sneak peek on how they make their red beans and rice with smoked turkey kielbasa.
The second day of filming we was in Asheville, NC. Our first stop was at Hickory Nut Gap Farm. We got see pigs, goats, and baby chickens. Learn about concept from farm to table. Also, how their meats can be found at several restaurants around asheville. Then we got to cook with the chief. He showed us one of dishes that is served on the farm.
Later that afternoon, we traveled to Highland Brewing Company. We got to tour the plant. Listen to some music, relax, and eat. It was all part of their Friday and Saturday night events. They feature local artists every week, along with some food trucks. One of them put me to work. Appalachian Smoke BBQ let me make their signature dish, BBQ Sunday. It was amazing.
I can not wait for you to see the footage. I have an amazing crew. They are really making this show happen from calling and setting all this up. To filming, dealing with audio problems, and putting up with me. I really can't say enough of how amazing and talented they are. "Where to Eat" will be streaming starting August 7th. Can't wait.
