In the heart of West Asheville is a little Caribbean and Jamaican restaurant named, Nine Mile. With a menu that consists only of fresh and organic ingredients, I was very enthused to try this local hot spot out. For starters, I had the house salad with Orange Balsamic Dressing. The salad was extremely fresh and the dressing was something that I've never experienced before. With the right amount of bitterness and sweetness from the orange and balsamic, the dressing was a nice way to prepare my food palette for the main course. For lunch, I ordered a chicken dish named "Cool Runnings." The dish features a blackened chicken breast with mushroom, bell pepper and fire roasted tomato in a smokey gouda chipotle queso. Served with rice, Caribbean black beans and roasted jalapeno and pineapple salsa. The chicken was cooked just a little bit too long, which made it a little tough to eat. However, where the chicken lacked in cooked perfection, the smokey gouda chipotle queso made up for it. I could tell all the ingredients we're truly fresh and and aromatics we're wonderful. All in all, I would visit Nine Mile again when I want something local, different, and fresh. And remember ya'll... Just keep on cookin.
